Easter Decor, Fashion, and More

I am happy to have a year when Easter falls a little later on the calendar.  Last year it was so early being at the end of March- Emersyn was only about two weeks old so we didn't really get to do much.  So this year I was extra excited to decorate the house with some fun Easter decor and create a little basket for Emersyn.
I like to keep my Easter/Spring decor simple and fresh feeling with bright colors and fresh flowers.  I only select a few key areas in the main room of our home to add small touches of decor.
This cute stitched banner is from Target and fits perfectly across the sofa table.
Having fresh flowers when decorating for spring is really a MUST!  This simple, single stem of hydrangea is perfect.  This driftwood bunny is new from Home Goods.  I love that it looks like this from both sides so I can place it on the sofa table and it looks nice from all angles.

Forsythia is another flower that I think is best for spring decor.  I love the pop of color these simple fake stems bring to the main living area.

Adding bright, spring pillows is such an easy way to lighten and brighten a room.

After putting a few spring touches around the house, I started to put together Emersyn's Easter basket.  She is still too little to really care much about a basket, so I kept it pretty simple with a new Easter flip up book, just a few eggs that I will fill with Cheerios or Puffs, and a fun little 'first crayon' activity book.

Finally, I picked out the two outfits Emersyn will be wearing for our Easter festivities.  Saturday we are having our large family gathering with lunch and egg hunts.  I wanted her to be in something a bit more casual and warm since we will be outside most of the day.  On Sunday, we will be going to church with family so she can get a bit more dressed up for that.
Saturday's Outfit- top and pants from Baby Gap, shoes from Old Navy and headband from Etsy.
Cardigan from Gap, dress from Oshkosh, headband from Etsy, shoes from Old Navy

Emersyn was crawling around the hall way when I took these pictures.  She crawled over and grabbed the cardigan and REALLY wanted to put it on- RIGHT AWAY!  She tried hard at it too!!!
"Ohh- I love this cardigan mom! I better try it on!"
"I know it goes up here somehow..."
"Yes... I remember through the arms..."
"So I put my arms out and then what?..."
"Geesh Mom... this is trickier than I thought!"
Love that little lady and the daily smiles she brings to my face!!!  Excited to share all of our Easter fun with you next week.  Hope everyone has a wonderful Easter weekend!

Friday Favorite: Time to Shop

I have been so excited to share my Friday Favorite this week!!  Dottie Couture Boutique is certainly a favorite spot!  Last night my sister Jessica and I hosted a private shopping party at the Indianapolis Dottie location.  We gathered some of our local girlfriends and enjoyed some wine and shopping- there's really not much better than that!  We had the store to ourselves to try on new styles, chat with friends, enjoy some wine, and shop with a discount!  We had a wonderful time!
Dottie Couture not only has the cutest clothing and accessories, but their store is adorable as well.  It is filled with hand painted signs, old vintage pieces of furniture, and fun colors.  Check out more about their store decor at my sister's blog- www.jessicastoutdesign.blogspot.com

Couture on a Budget

I love finding great small businesses to shop at.  I have a few favorites here in Indy that I hit anytime I have a gift to buy and want something unique.  So when a friend of mine introduced me to the clothing store Dottie Couture, I knew it was going to become a favorite of mine.
Dottie Couture began as small boutique in Greenwood and has grown to online sales and another boutique in the Keystone area of Indianapolis.  They have such a great collection of unique clothes, tops, bottoms, scarves, jewelry, and shoes.

I follow them on instagram, @dottiecouturebtq, where they post daily all of their new stock items.  I love seeing what is coming into the store, however, this can be dangerous because there is always tons of cute things that tempt a shopping spree.  Here are a few items that have recently caught my eye...

Friday Favorites: Statement Necklaces

Accessories have always been something I LOVE!!!  I go between just dainty pieces such as my initial necklace and simple watch- to layering bracelets and my new FAVORITE... statement necklaces!  I have been seeing some really great statement necklace ideas and inspiration on Pinterest lately!  Here are a two of my latest pins (found on the My Style Board of my pinterest account).

I think statement necklaces can really change an entire outfit- toss one on with simple jeans and tee, a dress, or well just about anything.  Let's be honest though, statement necklaces can be expensive!  My rule is simple: I will only spend more money on pieces that I feel are timeless.  They have to be simple colors and a style that will last for years to come!  Below is one of my favorite classic statement necklaces from J.Crew.  I actually bought mine at J.Crew Factory when they had and extra 50% off!

If it is a trendy color or style, I try to find those pieces at a deal.  Some of my favorite websites to find great deals are:
www.jane.com
www.urbanpeachboutique.com
www.shopsosie.com
www.baublebar.com
Here are a few statement necklaces that have caught my eye lately.

Shop Sosie:                         Rowan Necklace
Shop Sosie:         Estelle Necklace in Turquoise
It might be time to add a new statement to my collection for the spring season!  Where do you shop for statement necklaces?
