Well the nursery is beginning to take shape... in my head at least. I have FINALLY ordered a glider, dresser, crib, and a few other essential pieces. While those will take 8-10 weeks to arrive (ahh- shouldn't have waited so long to order), I am working on getting paint colors. accessories, and the other items all lined up. Can't wait to start to see it all start to come together in the room! I did create an Olio Board so you can see what I am thinking...

Nursery Inspirations
Now that we found out we are having a little girl, it is time to start this nursery. I will be working with my designer sister, Jessica, to create a nursery that is not so babyish. Something this little lady can grow into and enjoy for years to come. I am not an overly pink, frilly kind of person so my goal is to create a nursery with a colorful combination of modern pieces with antique finds. One thing I know for sure- I will not be shopping at a big box store where everything matches. Oh no!! I can't wait to hit the local boutiques and antique stores. Below are just a few pictures from Pinterest that are ideas that I am enjoying. Stay tuned for lots of nursery update!
I think stripes on the ceiling in a bold color makes an awesome statement. We have textured ceilings so we will have to test this out but I would love to try it! |
I like that this picture shows how an antique piece of furniture can be painted and used for a changing table. |
This color combo is something I could do- peach, pink/coral, mint, turquoise, navy, gray- all great colors! |
I love a pop of yellow! |
This mint/sea glass color is something I could see for a wall color. |
These sewing circles are such a fun and easy way to introduce lots of fun fabrics in small affordable amounts! |
There you have it- just a few moments that I have found to be inspiring for this room to be! Can't wait to shop this weekend! Updates to come...

It's a ...
21 weeks of pregnancy and we finally got to find out if baby m was a boy or girl. Ian and I could not have been more excited! After we found out, we wanted to share it with our closest family and friends with a little reveal party.
blue and pink treats |
Family and friends cast their vote on the chalkboard |
One last ring trick to see if it would say boy or girl... it moved in a circle which means...girl |
Cupcakes were filled with pink or blue frosting... |
PINK!!! |
Let the cuteness begin :) |
We could not be more excited to meet our little girl in March!!
Pregnancy Updates
Well, I can't hardly believe that I first posted about being pregnant back at 16 weeks and I am now 27 weeks! Time is really flying!! I have been working to keep up with my weekly chalkboard updates- but it is hard- I am noticing how fast a week goes and before I know it I am two weeks behind. Anyway, I will post a few pics of the ones I got taken.
Week 24 was spent on a beach- surprisingly I wore a bikini for my 24 week shot on the beach-I'll keep that one just for the baby book:) The 25 week update is on my chalkboard currently and I am actually 27 weeks!! AHHH- must be better at this! I will post more as I complete them!
Pregnancy Overall- I have been feeling great actually! I have had no sickness, and I have great energy. I can't say I am one of those women that LOVE being pregnant. It is certainly an adjustment- I am so use to being a certain size and weight, and I have had to really learn how to let go of all that. I am still working out with a great set of DVD's and eating healthy- this helps me feel like I am not just falling apart. Overall just want to be healthy for the baby and still feel like myself. 3 months to go!!
Finishing Touches
I did a post a few months ago showing my kitchen paint job. I must say I LOVE this color and I am happy I finally painted. But after looking at the wall with the plain basket weave place mats- they no longer popped the way I wanted.
I needed a way to to make this easy and affordable art make a larger impact now that the walls were a darker color. I decided to frame each place mat. I used simple and cheap white frames from IKEA.
I had a slight problem when I noticed the white mat was larger than the place mat. I needed a fast and easy solution. |
My solution- paint the corners the color of the wall. |
Painting the empty space in each corner the color of the wall took away from a spot that was standing out. |
I love that these simple place mats from Pier 1 look like art with a little framing help from Ikea. Each cost about $3 per place mat and the frames were $20.00. |
Much more noticeable as you enter the house through the hallway. |

linen closet organization
After organizing the pantry this summer, I had to have the other closets feeling the same way. There is something about a well organized space that makes me happy! Finally last Sunday I opened my linen closet and decided that was the day to get it looking the way I wanted.
Here is the before- oh my can't believe I let it look like this for so long. Items just setting on the shelves in no particular order. This picture is driving me nuts already! |
The after: all items organized into baskets that have categories and labels. Ahhh- doesn't this just make you feel better!! |
I used a spice shelf to organize my fingernail polish. It allows me to see exactly what colors I have- so I don't buy doubles. It is easy to pick my color- feels more like the nail salon. |
What closet have you been wanting to clean out? GO FOR IT!!
