Feelin' Fall

I love everything about fall- the color of the leaves, the smell of my pumpkin spice candle, the taste of a spiced latte, and of course the fashion!  I only hate that it is all so short lived!  I feel like I just got my fall decor out, and I am already thinking about Christmas decor.  I need to slow down and enjoy this beautiful season.  I didn't do tons of fall decorating this year, I just put a few simple touches here and there to bring that cozy feel to our home.

Wild hair and don't care on a Saturday morning!  Yes that lovely mark on her cheek is a bite mark- that has turned to a nasty bruise- the hard life of daycare!!
How do you decorate for fall?  Like I said before, I am already thinking Christmas.  I think it is because I am hosting both a craft day and family Christmas party, so I am wanting to do some new things.  But while it lasts... Happy Fall Y'all!!

Emersyn's Playroom Phase 1

After a long thought out plan and a SLOW installation process, Emersyn finally has a fun place to go and play!  Remember where this all started... just a few inspiration pictures.  Those can be found in the past post It's Time to Play.  After lots of shopping all around town at places such as: Home Goods, Hobby Lobby, Lowes, Target, and a massive IKEA run, I finally had all the needed pieces to pull this room together.
Speaking of pieces- this is the playroom in the millions of pieces that IKEA gets a kick out packaging their products.  So we spent a Sunday with a little Super Why on the big tv for Eme and lots of picture directions for us!
Look at that sweet girl just sitting in her empty playroom just waiting for some fun to be brought in!
Yes... Super Why captures her full attention.
First step was painting the whole room a soft shade of white.  WHITE?!  I've never painted a room white- with the intention of leaving it just white.  But I wanted the room to be bright and airy since it is in our basement, I also plan to bring in color in lots of other ways.
I wanted some bold black stripes on one wall to really make the room have a pop of interest.  So my mom and I used a small level to draw the stripes on with pencil first.  I HIGHLY recommend a level that has laser that shines out a straight line directly on the wall.  That would of made this a ton easier and it would have saved the missed measured lines and all the redoing.  Live and Learn
After all lines were lightly drawn on with pencil,  we then taped each line off and marked the sections to paint black.

Let's be honest, painting stripes is a job but they sure do look awesome when finished.  Can't wait to show you how we decorated this bold black and white wall!
Just wanted to show this BORING light fixture!  I really wish this room had can lights but it doesn't and this thing has got to go!  Solution to come...
This little gal kept pulling on my shorts giving me this look like... "Is it done yet?"
ALMOST sweet girl!
Stay tuned to see the final room photos!  I LOVE how it turned out and I think Eme does too!! :)

Remember When...

Remember when I blogged... haha!! But seriously life gets ya sometimes, then you stop and remember you gotta do things for YOU sometimes.  That is exactly what this blog is all about- just a little something creative and fun for me.  So I'm making time for it again!!
In fact this entire weekend was all about me!! It was a little 'remember when you didn't have a kid'?!?!
Emersyn spent the weekend with grandma and grandpa and my husband had both Notre Dame tickets and Colts tickets, therefore, I literally had a weekend full of things just for me!!!  What's a girl to do?

Here was my list of ME things:
1. Starbucks- pumpkin spice latte- if I ask for half pumps I actually like it!!
2. Manicure
3. Shopping
Emersyn scored some fun fall clothes! of course
This long green sweater top/dress is from a store called Hot Mama- gotta love that name!  It is seriously the most comfortable thing EVER!  great for fall with boots and tights.
grey sweater shirt dress from Gap- perfect with colored tights  (Gap had 40% off)
Another crazy comfy dark grey sweat shirt dress from Old Navy also 40% off
left sweater is from Loft 40% off- loved the two tone grey and camel/ right sweater sale rack at JCrew- loved the color and the built in white shirt bottom
Excited about this small wedge bootie from DSW- perfect for teaching in!
These are a maybe- I am thinking they might be fun and comfy for weekends.
4. Popcorn and Ice Cream for dinner

5. Facial Mask
I don't do this mask with Ian around, haha- he always gives me a funny look.  Seriously this mask turns your face into a rock!  Then when you remove it, your skin is so soft and clean.  It is Glam Glow from Sephora.

6. Girly Movie

Look what just happened to be on tv... Magic Mike!!! Yep!
Now Ian wasn't suppose to be home until LATE Saturday night so imagine my surprise when he walked into the bedroom as I was watching Magic Mike and eating a bowl of ice cream...  we both started laughing!  Yes dear- this is what I do when mama has a day off.

But let's be honest my days are better spent with this sassy little lady!  But a day off here or there ain't bad either!

Excited to post about fall happenings, Emersyn's play room, and other projects!!  Any ideas for posts??

It's Time to Play!!

For the past 6-8 months our 'play room' was being used as a storage unit for my brother and sister in law until they moved.  Well they got all moved into their new home, so that means it is time to start creating a little room simply to PLAY in!  I have been thinking about this playroom for some time now, so I thought to start off I would just share my inspiration photos found through Pinterest.  All pins are located on my board titled: Eme's Playroom Project

First up the color scheme is going to be grounded with a strong black and white contrast with pops of mint and gold.  I have my eye on a few IKEA rugs with some great black and white patterns, and I am also thinking black and white stripes for a statement wall.

My next must have for the playroom is a teepee!!!  I love the idea of curling up with my sweet pea in a cozy little spot to read books, tell stories, and make memories.  I have been searching on Etsy for the perfect teepee that of course I will add my own touch to.

To go with that teepee I have my eye on some great shelves from IKEA to line the corner with tons of book choices.

Also in the room, I want to have a craft table of some kind.  A place to draw, paint, and simply be creative.  I love this one with a roll of paper attached with supplies close by.

My last project is a kitchen refurbished from some sort of dresser or entertainment center.  I love the look of this adorable mint kitchen.  This is a project that I will need my sister from Jessica Stout Design to help with!

There are other great pictures on my Pinterest board but those are a few of the staple ideas I have for the room.  Stay tuned as the room comes together.
